What Does Map Your Show Do?

Map Your Show has created an online and large event platform that supports interactive floorplans, advertising, and custom client service that exhibitors can purchase with hundreds of features and upgrades to fit any budget. Map Your Show will also create custom features for some of the larger clients. These tools and floorplans allow exhibitors to see their booth location and their competition’s location and advertise on and outside of their platform. They can also use floorplans to plan their exhibit space, determine how much space they need, strategically place their event locations for a single location, or space them out if they own multiple booths. They also have comprehensive analytics tools for their client’s marketing needs so they can make better-informed marketing decisions for their future events.

Working with the Map Your Show design team was a delight. Very easy to work with, very communicative, and supportive of my ideas. Erik ( Map Your Show’s Product designer, whom I worked with daily) supplied me with any company historical information when I needed to make any design decisions. Helping me with insights into management’s expectations and giving design feedback.

The Project

The project was a short UX design project to visually refresh some of the exhibitor template designs for the Map your Show product to increase brand awareness and help exhibitors stand out from the competition with new and exciting designs. The design should be creative and eye-catching and must be approved by the Exhibitor Engagement Team.

As a Designer helping out Map Your Show, it was my responsibility to help the small design team with projects relating to the company’s exhibitor templates. It included designing new templates, web components, and new ideas for interactive maps. Refreshing old designs, brainstorming with other designers’ projects, and anything else design related that Map Your Show needed design help with.

Before winning the project…

I was asked to do a design test. I gladly accepted the challenge. I am confident in showing what I can bring to the table. Plus, it is an excellent way to show what you can do with the client’s materials.

The Task

The Exhibitor templates design was a project aimed at improving the branding and awareness of Map Your Show among its exhibitors. The project consisted of redesigning some of the older template designs and creating new ones that were up-to-date, eye-catching, and creative. I worked closely with the lead Product designer to get their approval on the designs. The project successfully increased brand awareness among Map Your Show’s exhibitors. With a new selection of template looks to choose from.

Designing a website can be a daunting task. There are so many things to consider – from the layout and structure of the pages to the fonts and colors you choose. But when it comes to designing a clean website, you can follow a few key principles to help make your website look great.

1. Keep your layout simple
One of the easiest ways to make your website look clean and polished is to keep your layout simple. Too much clutter on your pages will make them look busy and cluttered. Choose a simple layout with plenty of whitespaces, and focus on using only a few fonts and colors. This will help your website look sleek and professional.

2. Use neutral colors
When it comes to colors, it’s best to stick to neutral tones like black, white, gray, and beige. These colors will always look good no matter what type of design you’re going for, and they won’t clash with any other colors you might use on your website. In this case, we mapped the colors to just primary, secondary, and tertiary colors so that we could use the final clients branding colors in their Map Your Show’s exhibition web pages.

3. Stick to a grid
A grid can be a great way to keep your design neat and tidy. When laying out your pages, use a grid system to help align your elements and keep them in order. This will create a streamlined look for your website, making it appear more professional.

4. Use typography wisely
Typography is one of the most important aspects of web design, so you need to use it wisely if you want to create a clean website. Choose fonts that are easy to read and don’t have too many decorative details. Also, be sure to use proper spacing between the letters and words to make your text easy on the eyes.

When you follow these principles, you can create a clean website that looks polished and professional. These guidelines allow a trained professional to break the rules to achieve clean visual results.

Interactive Floor Plans

Interactive floorplans are a valuable tool for exhibitors, and they can be used to enhance their marketing strategy. By using interactive floorplans to plan their exhibit space, exhibitors can ensure they make the most of their booth location and get the most exposure for their brand.

Below is a recording of a prototype I created in Figma to show how I imagined some of the new interactions for the interactive floor plan would function and look.

Conclusion

The Client was very pleased with all that I had designed. Map Your Show sometimes had a shortage of tasks for me to design as I had worked quicker than expected. I built many small prototypes for the ideas I had to communicate better design ideas I had, even though I was not asked. They were very well received and sparked new ideas brought into the project.

The Visuals

All these user interfaces/web pages were created using Figma. Most of the logos used were from Map Your Show’s image database and actual logos from clients of Map Your Show.
